Designer Rick Valicenti asked us to collaborate with an international team of artists to create “The Final Round”, a short video which captures the essence of the bruising political fight Americans have endured in the 2020 presidential race. We handled creative editorial, 2D animation, compositing, and supplemented the black and white illustrations with splashes of color and graphic elements.
Toronto-based illustrator Annie Wang created drawings of two boxers using a graphic comic book style familiar to the American electorate.
We added splashes of color and graphic elements to amplify ‘red vs. blue’ electoral themes.
Huang Li and Jia Huang, from Beijing’s Deep Breath Studio, contributed glossy chrome 3D typography sequences which explode into bruised and swollen renditions of the original words.
Mode Project’s associate creative director, Matt Kuebrich, brought motion to the illustrations and typography using 2D animation techniques. Los Angeles-based sound designer Sonny Valicenti constructed the deeply layered soundtrack.
